Performing Arts

This is the first attempt to build on the huge success of the Maker pantomime in February.

Cabbage Stump Theatre is being put together by Joshua Lacey-Roberts in the hope of bringing together actors and anyone else who's interested in presenting frequent and professional standard plays and shows, both at Maker and with the potential to undertake short tours.

This performance, on 22nd and 23rd of April in The Energy Room, of an award winning "one man show" will be a theatrical night to remember.

The show is warm-hearted, funny and poignant; there's a hint of mystery, a trail of discovery and the possibility of truth behind a great myth.

All of the dancing-despite-it-all quality of klezmer music is here alongside all of the preposterous dignity of small man with small dreams who finds a wider reality.

" ...[this] modern fable is a blissfully ludicrous vision quest, outrageously funny, madly literate...a stunner..." (L.A. Weekly).

"...mind bending, heart-bursting, beautiful..." (Charleston City Paper)

"...stunningly funny, moving...required viewing for every actor, techie, author, director and theater lover..." (Charleston Post and Courier)

"...a dark and complex mystery that transcends the ages..." (Variety) "
